Checkpoint

This is a checkpoint showing what i have done in the first week of the project, what I am pleased with in my work and what I could have done differently, and what I plan to do for next week.

Research:
For my research in the first week of this project, I have looked at many forms of capture, for example I have looked at a bouncy ball animation, which shows an animation of a ball bouncing up and down. This taught me how to create an animation. I have watched 'Beautiful Losers' which is about a group of artists. In this week I have also looked at experimental films, such as 'Berlin Horse' and 'The Big Shave' which I have talked about previously in the blog, and I have looked in the colleges LRC libary, where I have looked at a book called 'Animation'. With this book, I have looked at some drawings of cartoon birds, because in mine and Liams animation, we want to have a cartoon pigeon. In my research I am pleased that I have looked into books such as 'Animation' as it will help me later on in the project. I could have made some more effort to look at more books, to get an idea of how to create a really good animation. In my research I plan to go onto the internet and find some cartoon art.

Plan Ahead:
In the first week I have planned ahead by creating mindmaps of what capture is, and also a spider diagram of 3 ideas which I could develop on to make a final idea for this rick project. I am very pleased that i have created a mindmap and a spider diagram, because if i was to ever get stuck on a idea, all I have to do is look at the two maps, and they will help me to decide on what to do. I am also pleased with the ideas which I have, and me and Liam have already decided on which one we are going to use. If we were to find our chosen idea challenging, then I have the other ideas for backup. If I could do one thing different, then I would probably make more mindmaps and spider diagrams. Next, I plan to develop on this one idea which we have chosen, and hope for it to become a great success.

Explore & Experiment:
I had to look for new techiniques by looking at animations on the youtube. By looking at the animations it helped me to decide on a brilliant idea, which I think, when its done it will be a great animation to watch. Our style of animation, is very similar to the book which we looked at in our research at the libary. Our animation is cartoony, and in the book we looked at 'Animation', all of the work in there, told you how to draw cartoony animation from step to step. I am extremely pleased with the animation idea which we have come up with, and I feel that it is something which we can work on, and I feel that it is very possible to make in the time we have. I aslo think that it will be good to have a humourus animation which it is. The next step for this, is to actually start making the animation, by starting off we will have to draw our characters, and when we are finished we will have to use Istock Motion, to make our still images come to life.

MAKE:
In the first week of the project I had to make a ten second animation as a practise task. In this task I first of all had to draw lots of frames of basically the same thing. This is because they weren't aloud to move quickly, otherwise it wouldn't look good, if the character was in one place, and in the next frame he was half way acroos the screen. I have also made a few maps, so that I have ideas of what I still need to do. I am pleased with my ten second animation, but I feel that i should have timed it better, so that I could have finished by now. My next plan is to take photo's of this animation to create a moving animation, and then to start sketching images for my final project idea.

Monitor & Reflect:
I have updated my blog everyday, doing research on artists, and also saying on my blog what I have done everyday since this project started. I am please with how my blog looks so far, as it has everything I need, and also I have collected lots of pictures and videos, to show what i have done in lesson, and what art we have looked at. On my blog I plan to add more artist researches, and I also plan to find more work related to the idea me and Liam have created.
